The Challenge: What Happens to Soil During Construction

Commercial development and grading projects don’t just move dirt they fundamentally disrupt the living ecosystem within the soil. During the soil disturbance process, decades of accumulated organic matter, nutrients, and microbial colonization are scattered or destroyed. The Terraseeding Solution

Terraseeding is Express Mulching & Soil’s revegetation process and it’s fundamentally different from anything else on the market.
Using our blower trucks equipped with computerized seed injection systems, we pneumatically apply a Class 1 organic compost blanket with seed injected directly into the material all in a single pass. The result is erosion control, a growth medium, and a soil amendment delivered simultaneously, without additional site impact.

How Terraseeding Works

Organic Compost Blanket Application

Our blower trucks pneumatically apply Class 1 organic compost across the disturbed area, forming a rich, moisture-retaining blanket that immediately begins improving soil structure.

Seed Injection

Grass seed is calibrated and injected directly into the compost stream via our state-of-the-art onboard seed injection system ensuring even, precise distribution in a single application.

Microbial Activation

The compost is teeming with self-replicating beneficial microbes that begin restoring the soil's biological ecosystem immediately — making previously unavailable nutrients soluble for photosynthesis.

Rapid Germination & Establishment

With nutrients available and moisture retained, grass seed germinates faster, roots establish deeper, and vegetation coverage meets inspection standards sooner.

Terraseeding vs. Hydroseeding

Hydroseeding uses a liquid slurry of water, wood fiber, and chemical fertilizers to apply seed. While widely used, it has a fundamental limitation: it treats the surface, not the soil. Chemical NPK fertilizers add salt buildup that can further stress already depleted soil, and the wood-fiber carrier provides none of the biological benefits that native grasses need to thrive.
Terraseeding addresses the root cause. By restoring organic matter and microbial life to the soil profile, we rebuild the foundation that healthy vegetation depends on — leading to faster, denser, more vigorous results.
